My First Tutorial

I’ve been wanting to do this for a long, long time, and now I have the tools to do it. With a new piece of software called Screenflow, I can capture video/audio from my desktop and then edit it into something resembling a good VLOG. (OK, maybe just decent.) While Screenflow isn’t as versatile as Final Cut Pro, it also doesn’t cost a thousand bucks!

So, here is my first of what I hope to be many online tutorials on radio production. I hope you like it and find it helpful.

    Nice,

But software that does this has been around for over 10 years so, where have you been ?

LOL…I get so wrapped up in my day-to-day work, and video/audio capture of this sort is not something I would normally do. Consequently, in a bizarre way, I guess I’m a Luddite. I was sort of forced into finding it to handle some of my speaking engagements…but now that I have, LOOK OUT! =)

Hey…I LOVE checking out your tips..as much as I can..RIGHT now im still working on Adobe Audition 3.0.. hoping to go to Pro Tools one day..but still plugging alone with A3. Do most of the tricks and settings used on PT translate over to A3 as well? Any suggestions would be GREAT!! Thank you soo much for doing this!

I know. I’ve gotten a TON of email from Audition users. I have to say SOME of the tricks will translate to the Adobe platform, but it is my understanding that the whole “bussing” thing just isn’t there, so a lot won’t. Take heart though, my plan is to do a lot more of the “ART” side of production, explaining the thinking behind all the “SCIENCE” side of things. My next one will explain BRANDING. What is is (and isn’t) and how to grow and nurture the beast.

    Thanxx for checking in, JD!
